WNA #1 – Leverich
Wednesday Night Adventure. The premier weekly adventure series has started in Bozeman Montana. Starting out with a mountain bike ride, what else, we were met with nice temperatures and blossoming flowers. First up is the Leverich ride. We were 2 riders strong but the numbers of riders we met on the mountain were numerous. At one point I got into a climb fest with a rider that THOUGHT he would just pass us. I tore off and beat him up the hill. Got to do that once in a while. Want on the ride announcement? Email me (hint : Contact Page). My goal is to take more photos next time. I was so in shock to be riding again I forgot this time.
Next Week: 6p @ Sourdough …o/o

Calf Creek Version 2.0
I was excited to show Mo this exciting new cabin I had stumbled upon; Oh about 3 weeks ago. The Calf Creek Cabin. I booked it up for two more nights. Once we arrived she saw what I saw … a beautiful little cabin in a big meadow … she was hooked.
There was two things to do, bike around and discover, and discover a-foot. Day II biking went pretty well, except we did finally run into snow up high. But it was the lazy evening walkabouts that we enjoyed the most. Who walked in the valley below discovering lots of elk tracks and a little creek. Especially lots of aspens.
Then day III was the most exciting crossing a meadow and discovering a hidden canyon with a river running through it. Pretty darn exciting. Open meadows and forests of Aspen so the walking was easy.
The next day was lots of bike adventure where we tried out various single track. There was, however, so much downfall things got tiring. After a couple hours of that Mo was done. But it was a cool little ride back down to the cabin.
A great weekend relaxing hanging out and being ourselves indoors. What’s on the horizon? Next weekend we have planned a backpacking trip and the following weekend we have a huge 5-day car camping trip. So that’s it for cabins this year. The summer is upon us.

Maxy cabin
We are at it again. Back-country cabin adventures team Mo and Bill at your service. This weekend it looks like we’re headed up to Calf Creek. I just could not get enough of that cabin three weeks ago when I visited it solo. But now it is time to post photos from last week’s adventure. We went up to Maxi Cabin in Hylite Canyon. Super awesome cabin. And we got to snow bike, oops I mean fat bike, one more time this year on the snow. It was a great weekend and this weekend is starting out just the same. Have a great weekend everybody.

Packing up
I can’t sleep. Its a personal thing I have going on. Anybody knows me they know something’s going on. So why not make the most of this morning. Packing the fat bikes up for this weekend’s adventure. There’s a cabin rented and it’s supposed to rain all weekend so nothing better to do than to fat bike through the weather and make it to this cabin high in the mountains. And then relax. -

Calf creek
Here I am in calf creek cabin. The sun just came out after wicked little rain storm. I did two rides today. One up calf creek trail. The other up towards the tender foot. In both cases I ran into snow.
Now I’m sitting here in this beautiful cabin and nothing to do. I had dinner, sausages and planting chips, but now I find myself wanting to play cards. Or go for a lonely walk. Register the beauty outside. Maybe over the ridge to look for animals.
This is the first time I have come to any cabin all by myself. My partners out of town visiting family and I thought why not go out on a big adventure. I just really wanted to bike pack here. it’s 100 miles from my front door. But then I read about how they close the gate for the winter and what happens if I run into snow? No way I’d walk 8 miles after a 80 mile ride.
Well there was no locked gate and I was able to drive all the way the cabin. So I did two rides from here.
I sit here writing this blog. The stove is going and it’s warm. It’s too early to go to bed. And now the blog is done. Now what? Guees i will have to get up tomorrow and do some more adventure.

In the Shadows of Washburn
One of our biggest, so-called adventures in Yellowstone was the Washburn hike. Surely not an extreme adventure, it was an all-day event that, after 14 miles, left us wanting to “be done” and just go home and crash on the porch. We left a car on top of Mount Washburn and traversed off the ridge to the east, scampering down a steep slope to the meadows below. Once in the thicket of grizzly bear country, we traversed over to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Then, an awaiting vehicle (a “beetle” likely referring to a Volkswagen Beetle) whisked us off to our cabin apartment. When one partner works in Bozeman and one in the park, it is nice to squeeze out small weekend adventures like this.

Trail Creek Expedition
It’s a new cabin to us. The trail Creek Cabin. We took the fatties. Almost took my 29er because I figured it would be dry or a little mud. But good thing we brought the fat meat because it was packed ice and snow turning to slush. Really it was like your average snow bike ride, riding most of the time, pushing the other. Was a good time. Its been awhile since we’ve been doing the cabin adventure thing so it was nice.

Checking Out Hyalite
So when is the first day of spring? My partner snuggles looked it up on the internet and it was last Friday. So what better to celebrate spring but to go into highlight Canyon to see what is up. From dog poop sickles on the trail to people ice fishing still there’s a lot of snow to be found. But blue skies abound. So will be back for more.

Backyard Spring Ride
Ah, the scene’s like something straight out of a moody indie film, where you half expect a lone, soul-searching protagonist to wander into frame, right? There’s this brooding, almost sullen sky up above, looking like it’s just about ready to throw a tantrum. And yet, down below, the countryside’s all basked in this glorious, Instagram-worthy golden hour light. It’s like Mother Nature decided to put on a light show just for the heck of it.
You’ve got those mountains in the back, sporting snowcaps that are so pristine, they could be on a postcard. They’re like nature’s own version of a majestic crown, poking through those grumpy grey clouds that seem to be warning us, “Watch out, I might just decide to rain on your parade.”

But then, there’s the foreground, stealing the show with its warm vibes. That old dirt road winding through the scene’s got more twists and turns than a daytime soap opera. And those wooden fences and rickety old barns? They’ve got stories, man. They’re standing there, weather-beaten and proud, whispering tales of days gone by.
The color scheme’s pretty low-key, yet there’s this stark contrast between the chilly blues of the sky and the earthy tones of the land that just grabs you. It’s like watching a visual symphony of the raw, wild beauty that mother earth’s got up her sleeve.
Peering at this through the nostalgic glasses of the 2010s, it’s kinda like a love letter to those simpler times. You know, back when the world spun a little slower, and we were all a bit more in tune with the natural beat of life. It serves as a gentle nudge, reminding us of the charm of the great outdoors and the everlasting beauty of country living, even as we march further into our gadget-obsessed, city-centric lives.
