Dry Creek Loop

After riding forest service double-track to the ridgeline I prepared for the downhill. -

It’s A Start

So we purged all our stuff but when you put it into a small space it looks like we own a lot. More purging needed. For sale is everything you see here except the workstation. -

Looking Back and Moving On

It is our 3 month anniversary of getting out of Bozeman, probably one of the best moves we have ever made.

Light Test

Ski packing at night What better way to test a new headlamp then to arrive at the trail-head late and ski through the night. My partner using her Petzel and I with the new Alpkit. Mine supposedly has 600 lumens and hers 200.
“I thought the cabin was just at the top … ‘beep’”, I finally blurted out. Not that I was concerned but that I was frustrated that my light was not shinning as far as I hoped.
“There it is”, she reported over the radio … ‘beep’.
“Oh, I see it; but not as good as I hoped” … ‘bleep’.
The conclusion, I thought in my head, is that European lumens must be different. So really 600 was more like 400 … maybe 350. But then we skied for another 15 minutes. Darn, maybe it was shinning way out there. Hard to tell on the high plains where you can see 30 miles at a time.
“Well … I think I like the new light but not as impressed with the total illumination.BUT then this thing will burn all night too ….”
“I am right here”, she was waiving her hand in front of my face, “No need to use the radios” … ‘Beep’.

Bangtail With Paul
On Paul’s last day we hit up the Bangtail Divide Ride. Long day. Didn’t take many photos due to some, lets say, stress of concern for others. But we all made it. Some pretty sick and others fine. We have to stop killin off our friends when they visit.

Wednesday Night Adventure

No, not a ride in Hyalite. Actually the only ride is a short one to the store to pick up some chicory for our morning tea. No, tonight’s adventure is packing. It starts tonight as we pack the car to the hilt with bikes and car camping materials. Then it all continues tomorrow when we skedaddle to the Lewis and Clark. This adventure will end on Monday evening. Have a great holiday weekend folks. -

Backyard Spring Ride
Ah, the scene’s like something straight out of a moody indie film, where you half expect a lone, soul-searching protagonist to wander into frame, right? There’s this brooding, almost sullen sky up above, looking like it’s just about ready to throw a tantrum. And yet, down below, the countryside’s all basked in this glorious, Instagram-worthy golden hour light. It’s like Mother Nature decided to put on a light show just for the heck of it.
You’ve got those mountains in the back, sporting snowcaps that are so pristine, they could be on a postcard. They’re like nature’s own version of a majestic crown, poking through those grumpy grey clouds that seem to be warning us, “Watch out, I might just decide to rain on your parade.”

But then, there’s the foreground, stealing the show with its warm vibes. That old dirt road winding through the scene’s got more twists and turns than a daytime soap opera. And those wooden fences and rickety old barns? They’ve got stories, man. They’re standing there, weather-beaten and proud, whispering tales of days gone by.
The color scheme’s pretty low-key, yet there’s this stark contrast between the chilly blues of the sky and the earthy tones of the land that just grabs you. It’s like watching a visual symphony of the raw, wild beauty that mother earth’s got up her sleeve.
Peering at this through the nostalgic glasses of the 2010s, it’s kinda like a love letter to those simpler times. You know, back when the world spun a little slower, and we were all a bit more in tune with the natural beat of life. It serves as a gentle nudge, reminding us of the charm of the great outdoors and the everlasting beauty of country living, even as we march further into our gadget-obsessed, city-centric lives.

Meadow Of Giants
This is part 11 in a series of blog posts that I am dedication to my favorite photos of 2009. Today’s latest entry goes by the grand title of “Meadow Of Giants”. Ah, the memories! I snapped this gem back on July 28th, 2009, precisely at 1:39 PM—right on the heels of the 24 Hour Worlds extravaganza, armed with nothing but my faithful Canon Sd1000 point-and-shoot. Talk about a blast from the past, right?

I took this short drive (http://goo.gl/oJa4) taking photos and now that I look at them I truly want a re-do.
Although I was sick I did enjoy the loop. I cant imagine to travel this tiny tiny bit of what western Canada has to offer while healthy. It would be fun to do it as a camping trip.
Anyone up for another trip to Canmore, maybe for the 24 hour race (no longer the worlds).
On This Day In History
On this day in history, here’s a delightful journey through the archives of my adventurous blog, Let’s delve into some memorable moments:
2002: Great Training Weather – Good morning world! It has been great weather here although it has been cold. I have taken two days off to recover from last weeks training. I seem to be on track to have a great season.
2006: Stupidity Lives On – Ah, the early days of March 2006. The internet feels more like the wild west and less like a valid tool. Let’s dive into the chaos and charm of these times, shall we?
2008: Morning Commute – Riding my K2 to Univision Computers each morning is my mini-epic: me, weaving through the city like a caffeine-fueled hero in a budget action flick.
2008: Makes For Indoor Training – Good morning from Missoula Montana where today is stacking up the be a great day for a road ride.
Each of these posts offers a snapshot into my life, capturing the essence of adventure, whether it’s braving the snow on a bike, marveling at nature’s grandeur, or sharing a laugh over the internet’s early days. What a ride it’s been!

Morning Commute

Morning Commute Riding my K2 to Univision Computers each morning is my mini-epic: me, weaving through the city like a caffeine-fueled hero in a budget action flick. The soundtrack? Way too peppy for 7 AM.
