  • Spring Comming

    Spring Comming

Ah, Monday, Monday, can’t trust that day, right? Like the old tune goes! Today was jam-packed with laundry, tidying up, and juggling my calendar. But hey, mission accomplished, and now it’s time to kick back. It’s getting nippy out there, but hey, spring’s just playing hard to get. Planning a chill hike tomorrow at Sleeping Giant on one of those easy-peasy trails to unwind. Well, it’s time to hit the hay. Sweet dreams, folks!

  • Exhausted

    Exhausted

Muscled my way through the front door after three hours of getting lost-but-definitely-not-lost adventuring in the woods. My legs are serenading me with a bluesy symphony – the kind where you can’t decide if you wanna laugh or whimper at the next step. Hit that glorious exhaustion point where hunger, fatigue, and a desperate need for horizontal living are locked in a three-way tie. So, what’s next on the agenda? Food, glorious food (seriously, at this point, even a soggy cardboard pizza would sing like an angel). Then, some serious horizontal Netflix-and-chill time. But not just any movie – something easy on the brain, because let’s be honest, it took a vacation around mile two of the hike. Here’s to refueling, recharging, and maybe even rediscovering the feeling of having functioning toes!

    Training on Schedule

Ah, the grand finale of Phase II of my mountain biking saga. I’m shedding pounds and my body fat is taking a nosedive, which is fantastic news. I’m practically out the door, off to indulge in my guilty pleasure at McDonald’s (yes, I know, save the lectures). Wait, am I hearing voices? Nah, must be the anticipation talking. Anyway, I’m planning to snag a few newspapers and then cozy up in the coffee shop for a bit of bookworm time and apartment hunting. Have a stellar morning, folks!

    Wallingford Mountain Biking

Ahh, the weekend! I just got back from Wallingford where I went mountain biking. Very very muddy! It was fun though. Took me 1 hour 20 minutes to do a lap. Lots of slippery conditions!

I have been getting online more lately as things seem to be caught up for the moment. Training is going well as well as work. Haven't seen anyone on though as I was hoping to chat some tonight. Hello, any one there.

Tonight I hope to go to the coffee shop and pick up a movie for later. Looks like we are having some friends over tonight for some fun so got to get ready for that.

    MTB at Brookfield Park Awesome

Hey there, long time no see – or, you know, long time no post! I’m still kickin’, just been swamped with bouncing back from pushing my limits a tad too much (overtraining is no joke, folks) and gearing up for a big move. Still on the lookout for the perfect pad, but no dice yet. Fingers crossed, I’ll dive back into the apartment hunt with full force after this weekend.

On a brighter note, the weather’s been playing nice, and I’ve been shredding the trails at Brookfield Park on my mountain bike – and let me tell you, it’s nothing short of epic. So, here’s me, keeping the tread down and spirits high!

  • Me Fat

    Me Fat

Today is blue. I am blue because my body fat reduction and/or weight are not where I want it to be. I seem to be gaining weight with muscle mass. If anybody knows anything about mountain biking, they know that this is the worst thing in the world. I must be under 190 before the 1st of March or I will just stop eating and workouts constantly until it drops below that mark. It is not much to ask of myself.

This line of thinking leads me to believe that I am on the verge of over-training and my morning heart rate confirms it. Today I will go out and just do real light fun stuff. No intensity! Also, it is no help that I found out yesterday that I have only 1 month to vacate my apartment.

  • Emotional Alchemy

    Emotional Alchemy

Yesterday’s mountain bike was absolutely outstanding. Today I feel a little over-trained but it is a day off so Ill rest. Been a while since I get a head-rush from getting up in the morning. Yep, better rest. I just ordered a book called ”Emotional Alchemy“. I heard good things about it. It is about a new emotional and spiritual way of thinking. Well, it is back to work today and I hope to keep with it until it is time to go home. I feel tired though. Tonight is laundry, groceries, and movie night. I will have to hit the coffee shop on my way home that is for certain. Also I would like to get my racing web pages upgraded. So much to do, so much fun doing them! Good day every-one!

  • Cool

https://sgpa.org – Hold onto your walking sticks, fellow nature enthusiast, because I just unearthed a goldmine for our next Sleeping Giant adventure! Talk about serendipity – I stumbled upon the Sleeping Giant Park Association website, and let me tell you, it’s like a map leading straight to paradise (with slightly fewer mosquitos, hopefully).

This website is our one-stop shop for everything Sleeping Giant. We’re talking 32 miles of trails winding through the park’s natural beauty, making even the most seasoned hiker’s heart sing (or at least wheeze happily). Whether you’re a summit-scaling daredevil or a casual leaf-peeping stroller, this site has something for every kind of explorer.

Think of it as our personal trail sherpa, guiding us with info on the association’s awesome work, the latest park news, and everything we need to plan our next conquest. So, dust off those hiking boots (or comfy sneakers, hey, no judgment!), grab your trusty backpack, and get ready to conquer this Connecticut gem.

But remember, even the most epic hikes begin with a grumbling stomach. Pack some trail mix (because let’s be honest, what’s a hike without it?), but remember to be a responsible adventurer and pack out all your trash. We want to keep this park pristine for future generations to enjoy, too.

So, lace up, grab your camera (gotta capture those epic vistas!), and get ready to hit the trails with a renewed sense of adventure. Happy hiking, and don’t forget to share your stories – I’m always up for a good trail tale!

  • Sleeping Giant Hike

Funny thing is that the rock I stood upon was a saying scratched into it, “I think I saw a halk”.

Alright, buckle up, folks, because yesterday’s hike was enough to make Paul Bunyan himself take a nap. Let’s just say, by the time I stumbled back to my car, I resembled a deflated pool noodle more than a human being.

Okay, so maybe noon isn’t the prime time to attack a 6.3-mile behemoth like Sleeping Giant (yes, that’s the majestic beast in question!), but hey, sometimes you gotta work with what you got. I ventured in from a different parking lot, which added a fun twist to the usual scenery. White Trail, Blue Trail, the whole shebang – and let me tell you, that trail is as cool as a yeti wearing roller skates. Seriously, the views, the climbs, the questionable decisions I made while huffing and puffing… it was an adventure, to say the least.

By the time I reached the finish line (read: collapsed onto a conveniently placed rock), I was ready to hibernate like, well, a giant. So picture this: me, sprawled on the couch, sun setting, the faint strains of Comanche 4 echoing through the apartment (don’t judge, those childhood memories hit hard sometimes). Apartment hunting? Zilch. Productivity? Nonexistent. But hey, sometimes the best adventures involve zero adulting and maximum video game nostalgia.

But fear not, dear reader, for today is a new day! Three glorious hours of mountain biking at Brookfield Park await, fueled by sunshine and (hopefully) the memory of my past athletic prowess. And if that wasn’t enough, tonight I’m catching a Sound Tigers game! Talk about going from couch potato to cheering on the home team – this girl’s got range.

So, until next time, keep those tires pumpin’ and those dreams chasin’. And remember, even giants need a nap every now and then. Just maybe pick a cooler time of day next time, yeah? ️

  • What's Up In Plattsburgh?

Yes, this is a boneshakerbike mountain bike frame with road gear and I was able to sneak away for a rare pizza cutter win.

Greetings, fellow intrigue enthusiasts! Your local info sleuth, checking in from the digital depths of WIRY.com, where the news of Plattsburgh seems as quiet as a library on nap time. Nada on last night’s call, which leaves me craving answers like a race car needs checkered flags. But hey, who needs drama when we have the roar of potential excitement rumbling on the horizon?

That’s right, folks, word on the street (or rather, the internet) is that Plattsburgh might be gearing up for a NASCAR track! Hold onto your checkered hats, racing fans, because this news is enough to make even the most casual observer want to dust off their old Dale Earnhardt Jr. t-shirt.

Now, speaking of racing fans, my buddy Charlie Mitchell just about did a celebratory burnout when I spilled this juicy rumor. You know Charlie, the one with a garage crammed full of more NASCAR memorabilia than a museum gift shop? Yeah, this track news is his personal Daytona 500!

While the official green flag hasn’t been waved on this project yet, the mere possibility has me picturing the town buzzing with the energy of race day. The roar of engines echoing through the streets, the smell of burnt rubber mingling with the sweet aroma of victory lane hot dogs…it’s enough to give anyone goosebumps (and maybe a sudden craving for nachos).

Of course, there’s still a lot of unknowns on this track. Will it be a dirt track or asphalt? Will it attract the big-name drivers? Will fans come flocking? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: Plattsburgh just got a whole lot more interesting.

So, stay tuned, folks, because this story is just getting started. Buckle up, keep your eyes peeled for updates, and who knows, maybe we’ll even see Charlie giving pre-race pep talks to the drivers someday! Until then, keep the mystery alive and the racing spirit burning bright.

    • 2002Psycho – A chilling recount of a late-night call from an ex-girlfriend, opening a window into the darker, more mysterious aspects of life and relationships.
  • Psycho

DALL-E’s masterpiece… since my camera took a day off or WordPress went on a deleting spree.

Well, last night was very interesting. My ex-girlfriend called me and started talking weird about someone trying to kill her. No shit. Well, anyway I got a couple of numbers and if she doesn’t call by 6am, then I am supposed to call the police with the name of the guy she was going to meet. Anyway, no call. I gave a quick call and looked into any activity that happened in Plattsburgh last night. I don’t know what the hell.

Today I am out the door looking for a new apartment. This evening I want to go for a two hour fast paced hike. I got a real good deal on trail running shoes on Serria Trading Post for 30 bucks. Sweet. Well it is off for my favorite breakfast.

  • Exhausted!

My default training interval photo for all the posts about working out.

I am absolutely exhausted today. A 1 hour Tie_Bo session followed by a half hour leg workout on the bike really exhausted me. I will take it easy today. I accidently miunderstood my workout plans and combined yesterday and today’s workout into one day. I am not making sense so Ill go for now.

  • Morning Coffee Brings Sunshine

    Morning Coffee Brings Sunshine

    The year started out well.

Ah, another foggy day… desperately in need of a coffee infusion to inject some sunshine into my veins. Believe it or not, we’re roughly a month and a half away from waving goodbye to our current apartment. This time around, I’m toying with the idea of flying solo, roommate-free, budget permitting. Dream scenario? Landing a spot in Avalon Walk. It’s not dripping with luxury, but it’s pretty darn cozy.

So, what’s on the agenda? Ah yes, the perennial question. Today’s mission involves throwing my support behind the ARMY once more, diving into one of our simulation environments. It’s a cool gig, albeit occasionally as exciting as watching paint dry. Time to make tracks and head down there.

Flashback to yesterday’s hike – that was nothing short of epic. But today, it’s all about Tai Bo and spinning my way to glory on the bike. Fingers crossed this fog decides to take a hike of its own.

  • Great Day For a Mountain Bike Ride

Great Day For a Mountain Bike Ride

Good morning! It’s a fantastic day for a mountain bike ride, though I’ve got a different outdoor activity lined up – a hike on Sleeping Giant. It’s going to be enjoyable, and the best part is, Marcy, my dog, can join me.

Feeling a bit worn out this morning from yesterday’s bike ride, but that won’t dampen my spirits for today’s hike. Tonight, the goal is to catch up on some bills and update my racing pages. That’s the plan, at least. Let’s see how the day unfolds!

    ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

    • 20012 Hour Ride – A light-hearted post-ride reflection, Bill compares his biking adventures to the comedic twists of the movie “Shanghai Noon,” finding joy in the unexpected.
  • Back to Training

    Training Intervals

Hey there, folks! Bill here, and guess what? I’m finally back to training, and let me tell you about my first controlled workout of the season. I hopped on my fixed gear ride, cranked up the cadence, and kept that heart rate up. Whew, it left me feeling a bit ragged, but hey, that’s the price of getting back into the groove. I’m hoping to recover soon because there’s more hammering on the agenda tomorrow!

But before we dive too deep into the training tales, let me share a bit of fun from the evening. I gathered up my friends, and we embarked on a pizza adventure followed by a movie night. And folks, we’re talking about some seriously good pizza here – yum!

Now, for the main event – we watched “Super Troopers.” Oh boy, what a riot! I haven’t laughed that hard in ages. The humor was just top-notch, and it was the perfect way to unwind after that intense ride. Laughter is good for the soul, they say, and tonight, my soul got a hefty dose of it.

So, as I kick back and look forward to tomorrow’s training, I’ll leave you with this thought: sometimes, a good movie and a bellyful of pizza are all you need to make a day unforgettable. Until next time, keep those cadences high and those laughs even higher!

  • Brookfield Park MTB Tonight

DALL-E Image Added in 2024 for visula reasons.

What a nice day this morning. It is a good day for a mountain bike ride. When work is over I will see you all out on the trails. I think tonight will be brookfield park.

  • Single Track is Calling

History reimagined: Pixels paint the past anew.

Man, that weekend was pure mountain magic! Legs still achin’ happily, but today’s all about rest and recharge. Gotta map out phase two of my base training, like, yesterday. Speaking of magic, the single track’s already whisperin’ sweet nothings in my ear. Can’t wait for that first rip of the season!

Speaking of whispers, just chatted with a fellow shredder nearby. Fingers crossed we can hit the trails together soon – double the stoke, double the fun, right?

Gotta scoot for now, but stay tuned for more mountain musings!

  • Montreal Misadventures: Snow, Spice, and Subterranean Shenanigans

Alright, gotta catch that snow train back home before I turn into a human Popsicle! It’s coming down like crazy, but hey, at least I’ll be home by 7pm-ish (fingers crossed, traffic gods willing). Don’t know if I’ll have energy to update later, so gotta squeeze this in now. Brace yourselves, it’s about to get real…tired.

Yesterday was a whirlwind! Started with an IMAX adventure at the port, watching “Wild California.” Talk about intense! Especially that scene with the helicopter jump – my heart was doing tap-dancing routines in my chest. Post-movie fuel came courtesy of my favorite Indian joint, pure YUM.

Then, onto the legendary St. Catherine Street for a caffeine crawl. Three coffee shops later, I was practically buzzing on lattes and cookies (don’t judge, those cookies were calling my name!). And guess what? Montreal was rocking “The Festival of Lights.” Talk about weird, artsy, pop-culture goodness! Just when my feet were about to revolt, we dove into the magical underground city. Tacos, a mesmerizing water show, and a marathon walk back to the car later, we were homeward bound.

Great time? Absolutely! Exhausted? You bet! But hey, memories are made of this (and maybe a little bit of sugar crashes). Until next time, Montreal! And just a friendly reminder, if you see a snow angel shaped vaguely like a human in your backyard, it’s probably just me. Don’t be alarmed.
