Bathroom Surprise

Happy New Year, indeed! This year kicked off with a heart-pounding adventure that I’ll never forget. Picture this: a serene campground at Kalaloch, with the soft pre-dawn light just beginning to touch the sky. I was up early, expecting nothing more than a quiet morning and perhaps the first pick at the communal bathroom.

As I neared the facility, I bent over to check for any signs of life. Suddenly, a dark shadow on the floor caught my eye. Instincts kicking in, I called out, but what happened next was straight out of a movie. A loud, beast-like sound erupted from within. In one swift motion, I stepped out and slammed the door shut, just as the ‘beast’ crashed against it, shaking the building to its core.

In Yellowstone, we fear grizzlies, but here in Kalaloch, the real fear lies in what I encountered: a pit bull, left recklessly in the bathroom by someone clearly not thinking straight. With my heart still racing, I made my way back to camp. Laundry awaited, but the adrenaline still pumped through my veins.

What a start to the year, huh? It’s a reminder that adventures can be found in the most unexpected places – even in a campground bathroom at dawn!
