I ride my fat bike along the beach. I feel freedom and exhilaration. The wind in my hair, and the sand sprays up onto my shins as I pedaled faster and faster. But then I noticed the storm clouds in the distance, and the ominous feeling in my gut grows stronger.I went too far down the beach and was about to pay the price. Suddenly, the wind picked up, and the rain poured down on me in sheets.I pulled my raincoat tighter around me and trudged through the sand, wondering how I had gotten myself into this mess. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I heard a strange screeching, howling behind me. I turned around to see the scrub trees swaying in the wind, and I couldn’t help but feel like they were mocking me.
