It was good – so good, in fact, that I caught myself wishing it could stretch out forever. But I knew better. Things like that never last. Still, I soaked it in while I could, savoring every fleeting moment. Fall 2022, you were a masterpiece in amber and gold, and I appreciated every bit of you, maybe more because I knew you were just passing through. For a little while, you were everything. And honestly? You were the best.
Missoula is a beautiful place to be in the fall. Commuting through the leaves and the fireworks in the backyard. With snow now falling it is hard to believe we were just immersed in this eperience. As I look now, its just WHITE.
Deer Creek Ridge is a moto trail that local MTBers have taken under their wing. Although wrongfully spreading the word that this is MTB only, I hit it up with my EMTB. #trailforkswrong #bringbackthemoto
Alright, here’s the lowdown on “Redneck Full Run.” Picture me out on Redneck Trail, yep, that’s its actual name, just a stone’s throw from the local gun range. Nothing like a peaceful jog accompanied by the occasional BANG! Keeps the heart rate up, you know? Fuck them!
So, I’m riding along, trying to avoid the branches and questionable plant life, when I decide it’s time for a solo concert. Just me, the trail, and whatever random tune pops into my head. (I’m sure the coyotes appreciated the free show.) Then I hit this stretch absolutely infested with mullan weed—like, if weeds could hold hands and sing “Kumbaya,” this was the spot.
Anyway, I pick up speed, dodging the mullan jungle like I’m in some weird nature-themed action movie, half expecting one of those weeds to start chasing me. Just your average high-speed, sing-along nature run, gunshots and all.
Oh man, the Blue Mountain Moto Parking Lot. I knew it was going to be rough, but somehow, driving my trusty Honda Element up there made it feel like I was putting a golf cart in a monster truck rally. Those washboards had my suspension begging for mercy, and the climb just kept going. Lesson learned: that parking lot is a one-time experience.
And yeah, what’s the deal with not being able to start from the main Blue Mountain trailhead? It’s like a rule designed specifically to add a little extra grit to the day. But I was committed to hitting all the moto downhills on that side of the coulee, so there I was, rattled but ready.
Once I finally got rolling, though? Worth it. Each descent was a wild ride, full of rocks, drops, and enough twists to keep you wide awake.
Just foolin around with all the moto trails around these parts. Parts anyway.
Just dropped a video of an epic eMTB adventure up the Kim Williams Trail in Missoula! 🚴♂️ Kicked things off with some action, passing by a group shooting guns (don’t worry, I yelled, “Miss me!” as I rode by). From there, I hit the backroads toward Turah, navigating some rough gravel stretches and a few teeth-rattling bumps.
Then it was up and over the legendary Alpe De Turah, straight into the Miller Divide for some alpine singletrack with views for days. Finally, after a few adrenaline-packed descents, I bombed back down to home. This ride had it all, gravel, guns, climbs, and that sweet singletrack. Check it out if you’re ready for a little taste of Montana wildness!
Just poset these photos on the 2022 album. We tried to do a bike and then hike. Our mistake was to bike there via the Maclay Bridge. Almost died numerous times. Not a good bike route. In the end we jacked the folf course and rode out via Blue Mountain and the bike path home.
Absolutely, Sleeman Ridge is like hitting the jackpot for anyone on an eMTB. I mean, enough with the tame bike paths; these are real trails—the kind you crave if you’ve been stuck on flat, predictable tracks for too long. It’s not just about the thrill either. Sleeman Ridge near Blue Mountain has this wild vibe, with moto trails that push you just the right amount. You get the perfect mix of climbs, downhill rushes, and technical sections. And on an eMTB? Pure magic. The motor gives you that little extra boost to take on those steeper climbs and really make the most of every twist and turn.
