  • Trip To NYC :)

We went to NYC for the last couple of days. We took my new car and fought the traffic all the way down there. Once there we stayed at the Murray Hill Hotel. Our room was great with a front room and kitchen. On the first night we went to the Hard Rock Caf

  • BHL Will Be Back

I couldn't sleep so I got up and updated a shit load of pages on my site updating them to my recent address and phone number. Also at work when I have been waiting on a compilation I have been working on my hockey simulator. BHL will be back…and it should be fun. Well better get back to bed.

  • Ray Charles

Last night was pretty cool. The crowd on the green (Park in New Haven) reached 100,000 at last count. Absolutely huge. I got a glimpse of ol Ray. Pretty cool. Next week there is another concert, thinking about going. We bring cheese, crackers, wine, chairs, and hang in the cool summer night. Absolutely great time.

  • Racing Gets Hot

Last weekend I went to a race here in Wallingford CT. The trails are just about 12 minutes away from here. I ride there all the time. You would think that I would do well….but the heat really took its toll and I ended up with heat exhaustion. At least I finished the race. It was a grueling three and a half hours long. Wew.

Suzy came down to surprise me at my race. She stayed for a couple of days after. This weekend Ray Charles is having a free concert in the park in New Haven. Should be fun.

  • Lime Rock Race

    Lime Rock Race

Ah, last weekend was quite the adventure, let me tell you. It all kicked off on a sunny Saturday, the kind that screams “road trip!” My mission? To rendezvous with my buddy Ed Smith at his mom’s place in Wappingers Falls, NY. But, plot twist, I had to play the waiting game for my new bed to arrive first. Yes, folks, I’ve finally upgraded my sleeping arrangements – it was a big day.

So, once my royal sleep chariot was securely delivered, I zoomed off to meet Ed. But here’s where the sitcom-worthy twist comes in: Ed hadn’t even left Plattsburgh until 7 PM! There I was, making chit-chat with Ed’s family for a solid three hours. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a total snooze fest.

Fast forward to the next day, and we’re off to the Lime Rock Raceway in CT, engines roaring and spirits high. I hit the ground running, or driving, in this case. But then, the plot thickens as the scorching weather decides to play the main villain in my racing saga. With just one lap to go, I was pulled off the track, a twist of fate worthy of a daytime drama. And would you believe it? I checked the results online, and they still threw me a bone with a fifth-place finish. Talk about a silver lining!

But wait, there’s more. I almost took an unscheduled nap in a grocery store afterwards, courtesy of my near-faint escapade. Fast forward to midweek, and I’m still feeling the aftermath of that epic day and a 56-mile bike ride with the local cycling gang. Work’s been a mixed bag – mostly me twiddling my thumbs, waiting for someone, anyone, to get their act together.

So, yeah, that’s the lowdown on my high-speed weekend and the slow-motion work week that followed. It’s been a ride, folks, quite literally.

  • Connecticut Is Not That Bad

    Connecticut Is Not That Bad

This weekend was absolutely awesome. Friday was a bit bad because Suzy didn’t get here until 2 AM Saturday morning. Once we got a little sleep we set out driving in my new car. We drove down the Merret parkway and went to an awesome Mexican restaurant. After that we went to a digital theater to watch Fast and Furious. That was great. We finished the day off by spending the evening in New Haven on the green listening to the Little Feet Band. It was great. They play Grateful Dead type music. Sunday we went out to breakfast and drove around in the countryside. Before Sue left for home we went out to dinner. What a good time. My new focuses for this week is to get a bed, drivers license, and take Marcy to the vet for her shots.

  • 200 This Weekend

I have put on 200 miles on my bug in the last two days. I drop it off next week for simonizing. The only problem that I have had is that the tape player doesn't work. Minor stuff. Suzy come to visit this weekend and I am very excited. I hope her car makes it. I have to return to Plattsburgh in the following weeks to pay back my friends that gave me money to move here. I received my moving expenses check from Sikorsky and they took out $2300 in taxes. We are so suppressed in this country. A person makes more without an education and it pays to be on welfare.

  • Will I Get A Beetle

My car broke down yesterday again. This time the transmission blew up. I am in the proces of trying to get a loan to get a new car. I always wanted a bug. Today I go to VW of Fairfield to attempt a new car purchase. Stay Tuned!

  • ISP Troubles

I am having trouble with my internet service providers. I am attempting to update this page without the use of my computer at home. SNET internet seems to want to block all ftp and e-mail access to other servers. Today I will cancel my service with them. Other then that I am still exploring all the new trails here.

  • Second week

Marcy and IThe second week in Hamden went better than the first. I have found some great biking, both road and mountain. Work has been great as I have been given some projects in my favorite language. I am starting to think about starting the BHL back up, but I will learn flash first. I am still thinking about which language my simulator will be in. So far it is Perl. I am visiting home (Plattsburgh) this weekend to visit. Next week I hope to get back on track with my training.

  • Exploring

I have found some riding and have spent most of my time exploring. There are some real kick ass singletrack just around the corner. Today I am going to a bike shop called Amity Bike. Someone says that it is the premier bike shop to stop at to find out about bike rides and races. There is a Connecticut State Championship series race close to here in two weeks and I think I will look into that.

On the job front, what can say….very fun and I think this will be a great place to work. One bad thing is the prices in the cafeteria. A orange juice is a couple of bucks.

  • Car Pick Up Day

I pick up my car this morning. It will be very interesting on how to get there on the bus lines. New Have is very funky. New Haven to my surprise, is a very cool city. Cool modern architecture as well as old Roman style. Getting the car will be nice but the cost is questionable. It will can't me $1,399.00 to fix the clutch, seals, flywheel, and mounts. The rest of the weekend I will spend resting up from this awesome weekend and cleaning up the apartment.

  • Bad News

Bad news all the way around.

At work they are moving me out of the division that I have grown to love and fit in. They are moving me to another that deals with moving a programming language to another. Very boring work.

    I am thinking about refusing.

On the outside, my car is becoming a Cash Sink Hole. The transmission guy (Cottman transmission – David Russell), has told me that the engine mounts, engine seals, transmission seals, and Flywheel are all bad and need replaced. The grand total to get my car back is $1300.00.

Does anyone have any money I can Borrow?

  • Golf in Shop, Now Commuting

It is hump day and I don't have a car. I dropped it off at a transmission place and that is where it has stayed. Tomorrow I take the buses and trains to work and back. I am however starting to fit in at work and it is actually really exciting and fun. I don't have a phone at work yet but my e-mail is WLMartin@sikorsky.com. Pretty cool.

  • First Day At Work

Tomorrow is my first day at work and Ill get out of here at 7AM since my clutch is out on my car and I might have to walk or take the bus. I am finally on the internet. I tried them all and they (ISPs) are crap. I found one that I like. It is called slingshot and you get it at Staples. For 600 minutes it is ten dollars. Not bad since it takes me a month and a half to use that much time up. Other than that, yesterday was a bad day for me as I missed my friend Sue so bad I could barely stand it. I still feel that I am not on the right track. Time will tell.

  • Moving Into Hamden

Hello from Hamden CT. I have moved in and plan to get a couple of cam shots soon. The hardest part of the move has been setting up the damn computer and hooking up to the internet. I wont have service for another three weeks. In the meantime I will use NetZero.com. Technology is eating up our lives and to that respect I bid adew.

  • Farewell, Plattsburgh! (But Seriously, Where’s the Wi-Fi?)

I was a zamboni driver while in college at PSUC

Yo Plattsburgh peeps, brace yourselves for a mic drop. Yep, your resident wordsmith is bidding adieu today. Consider this my swan song, my emotional goodbye, even if it comes across the internet like a high school yearbook message scribbled in glitter pen. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a feels-fest.

Now, picture this: moving boxes overflowing like Jenga towers, farewell hugs tighter than last call at the local watering hole, and a heart heavier than a backpack after finals week. Leaving my BFF (shoutout to you, [Best Friend’s Name]!) and the rest of my amazing crew feels like Captain Kirk abandoning the Enterprise without a warp core. Travesty, I tell ya!

But fear not, loyal readers! This isn’t a permanent radio silence. Think of it more like a dramatic season finale cliffhanger. The internet might disappear for a week or so while I navigate the logistical nightmare of moving (think furniture Tetris and unpacking boxes the size of Volkswagens), but fear not, I’ll be back, like a phoenix rising from the ashes of packing peanuts.

Until then, consider this a virtual high five (air hugs are awkward, am I right?). Remember me fondly, like that quirky meme you still chuckle at every now and then. And hey, if you see a Wi-Fi signal strong enough to reach the moon, send it my way, would ya? This new place might be fresh, but I’m pretty sure carrier pigeons aren’t exactly the speed demons of communication.

Later, Plattsburgh! Stay frosty (and maybe send some pizza my way – unpacking is hungry work).

P.S. If you catch any sightings of Bigfoot while I’m gone, be sure to snap a pic! The internet needs proof.

  • Confirm My Graduation, Damn It

Today I take my car to find out what it will take to fix it. I may be renting a uhaul to get home. Damn car. Also I have to go to PSUC and try to wrench my graduation confirmation from their greedy hands.
