  • New Photos

AdirondacksThe latest photos are now ready for viewing in the digital photography area. These pictures include the hell hike – Blake and Colvin. The hike was 12 1/2 hours long and included 18 miles. Looking back, we took the wrong trail and ended up doing all the mountains in the ridge leading up to Blake and Colvin. This is the reason for the lack of pictures … with the mishap … not to many taken.

  • Dehydration

Recently I went hiking and thought that I could extend my hike without water. The effects were very bad and I am lucky to have that behind me. I should know the dangers as I have raced mountain bikes for ten plus years. Once and a while we must remind ourselves the basics. Below is from some research I did on the net.

Dehydration is a condition in with the body’s water output exceeds water input. Dehydration may develop from either an inadequate water intake or from excessive water loss. Dehydration resulting from as little as a 1% to 2% loss of body weight can impair physiological and performance responses. Symptoms can include thirst, fatigue, weakness, and loss of appetite. Dehydration resulting from a 3% to 4% loss of body weight can further impair physical performance. Symptoms can include dry mouth, reduced urine output, flushed skin, impatience, and apathy. Dehydration resulting from a 5% to 6% loss of body weight can result in heat exhaustion. Symptoms may include difficulty in concentrating, headache, irritability and sleepiness. Dehydration resulting from a 7% to 10% loss of body weight can result in heat stroke and death. Symptoms may include dizziness, spastic muscles, loss of balance, delirium, exhaustion, and collapse. Symptoms of dehydration can progress rapidly from thirst, to weakness, to exhaustion and delirium and end in death if not corrected.

Orange County Choppers, led by the father- and-son team of Paul Sr. and Paul Teutel Jr., will custom-make Comanche Bike on episodes set to air on Discovery Channel in July at a date to be determined. The show ”Ultimate Machines“ will feature Comanche in a 12-minute segment during a one-hour documentary about high-tech helicopters. The episode airs on Discovery some time in October. Each week ”American Chopper“ documents the making of theme motorcycles by Orange County Choppers (OCC) of Rock Tavern, N.Y. Since its spring 2003 debut the show has become an instant hit among motorcycle enthusiasts and fans who enjoy the fiery interplay between Paul Jr., Paul Sr., and the OCC bike-making team. • Update

I now have a new site and all the news will be there!

  • New Site

I am trying out this site and soon it will become my main website administrator. My site will be totally interactive. Sign up and get used to the design. I am doing this because I hope to never write any HTML code again. Now I can spend more time hiking.

I have just changed the theme because I think this one is easier to read.

I have just opened up the downloads area. Check it out, it includes a panoramic movie.

  • Hike in the ADKs this Weekend

    Hike

This morning I am trying to still get caught up from last weekends hiking trip. I am trying to slip in a little picture processing time before work. After that I must unpack and clean the car. Then the house. Tomorrow I get ready and pack for this weekend. I think I will hike in the ADKs this weekend. In fact I know it. I just have to find someone to watch my dog for a day while I hike a dog prohibited area.

  • Abraham Mountain Climb

Ok it seems as though the site is back up. I am back from my trip to Vermont and it was great. I hiked Abrahm on Saturday and Sunday I meet up with my best friend Paul for a jaunt up Camel Back. It was awesome. Pics to come soon. Getting rest now. Goodnight.

  • Site Down!

My web host provider has fudged up the data bases and their whole site is down….Check out my site later.

  • Tonight is the pro bike race in New Haven

Welp, looks like Couchacaraga got the best of me (seriously, who names these places?!). Time to reroute this weekend adventure!

Since tonight’s epic pro bike race in New Haven is calling my name, I’m sticking around to capture the action with my trusty camera. Gotta say, seeing those pros battle it out is pure adrenaline in photo form. ‍♀️‍♂️

Speaking of rerouting, I’m swapping my schedule pages for hiking pages! My awesome friend and I are teaming up to create a one-stop shop for all things hiking, complete with weather updates, maps, and more. Get ready to explore some amazing trails!

P.S. Is anyone actually seeing my photos? The only way I know is by your lovely comments, so don’t be shy! Hit me up and let me know what you think before they disappear into the digital abyss.

Soaking up the New Haven vibes, fueled by caffeine and the thrill of the race. Stay tuned for more updates and maybe even some sneak peeks from the hiking page in the works!

  • Peak Bagging

Last weekend I went to Vermont for some peak bagging. I started out at Ascutney and then went on to Stratton. I spent the night in the car and attacked Killington Peak. All week I have been nursing a real sore ankle. I injured it three weeks ago and my new boots were responsible for not protecting one of my steps from too much shock and I did something to a weekend area. I am making plans for this weekend and am unsure what to do at this point. It looks a lot like I will be in the Adirondacks to attack a three peak hike fest. 17 miles in one day.Santinoni, Panther, and Couchacaraga (spelling, who named these freaking places). Well to work. Please visit my photos.

  • Slight Focus Problem

My camera is now ok with a slight front focus problem. No problem, I like f11 anyway. I post just a few of last weekends adventure. Come back tomorrow evening for some more. Goodnight.

  • Back From Hiking Trip

    Back From Hiking Trip

Just hobbled back from a hiking adventure, feeling like a two-legged pack of sore muscles. My trusty Vasque boots finally decided they’d seen enough summits, so I treated myself to a new pair – gotta keep the feet happy! Spent the weekend in Massachusetts, summiting two mountains, and then snuck into the Catskills for a bonus peak. My personal highlight? Camping by Bish Bash Falls – the sound of the water was pure white noise magic for my city-weary soul. Speaking of white noise, I managed to mangle the camera’s internals on the trip (oops!), so picture updates are on hold until I figure out how to fix that tech gremlin. But fear not, fellow outdoor enthusiasts, I’ll share the breathtaking views as soon as the lens is back in action!

One of the most memorable hikes was the Hopper Trail up Greylock. Now, let me tell you, those 4.5 miles and 2,400 feet of elevation were no joke! I almost conquered it in under an hour, but let’s just say my internal compass took a detour to “scenic confusion.” Hey, even Gandalf got lost occasionally, right? On Sunday, I tackled the Blackhead Range – another 10-mile monster that threw three mountains in my path. Let’s just say my legs were singing the “achy breaky” blues by the end, but the views were worth every groan.

So, back to the daily grind I go, with memories of crisp mountain air and epic climbs fueling my soul. But fear not, the next adventure is already brewing in my mind, and I can’t wait to share it with you, mishaps and all, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good trail-gone-wrong story with a happy ending (and maybe a few new hiking boots)? Until then, happy trails, fellow adventurers!

  • Got That Tee Shirt

    Got That Tee Shirt

So picture this: I’ve finally wrangled my latest batch of photos into submission, and let me tell you, they’re fire. Like, next-level fire. Last weekend, I conquered the mighty Escarpment Trail, summited North Point in the glorious Catskills, and even threw in a “been there, done that” stop at the ever-popular Katterskill Falls. It was like a nature documentary starring yours truly, minus the David Attenborough narration (although I wouldn’t mind a voice-over tbh).

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Didn’t you just hike Hunter for some racing thing?” Guilty as charged! But listen, when you find a place that tickles your outdoorsy fancy, you gotta spread the love, right? Plus, I’m on a mission to collect “better experience” badges, like some kind of nature-loving Boy Scout. Sue me.

Speaking of missions, this weekend I’m doubling down on the Catskills adventure, then heading for the rolling hills of Massachusetts. Yeah, Greylock might feel like a molehill compared to the Catskills giants, but hey, gotta check it off the list, right? Besides, variety is the spice of life, and all that jazz.

Anyway, enough rambling from yours truly. Gotta get back to the grind. But before you go, do me a favor: stalk my pics! Leave a comment, a witty quip, a haiku about the majestic mountains – anything! Your feedback fuels my wanderlust, and who knows, maybe you’ll inspire my next adventure. Until then, happy trails! ️

  • What to do?

I am on the verge of desaster. Yesterday it rained so hard all day I was forced to do nothing and stay inside (sleeping). This morning I woke up late and must make a decision beore it is to late. Go to a mountain bike race and take no pictures or go to the Escarpment trail and hike taking loads of pictures. What about the long run? Which is better for me now. If I miss this one the NE Champ series is out for the summer. I love to ride but not in the cold and mud. Hiking might be a little messy also. What to do.

  • Town Meeting

Good morning. I am at work early so that I can go to Town Meeting. This is a thing were we all go out to breakfast. The special is Corned Beef Hash topped with Eggs and surrounded by Homefries. MMMMMMMMM. Posted some new photos last night except I am having trouble getting sharp pictures. I must really shake. Even when I use a tripod with the mirror locked up it is still blurry.

  • Hiking and Biking

    Hello Everyone,

Hope your week’s going well! Last weekend, I ventured out for hikes in the Hudson Highlands and the Catskills – you can see the memories in my photos. This weekend, I’m heading back to the Catskills to explore some waterfalls and tackle more mountains. There’s even a chance I might join a mountain bike race on Sunday. Interested in coming along? Just give me a call or shoot me an email. I’m planning to set off early Saturday, before sunrise. Take care, and I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

  • Thank You Mother Earth!

Since yesterday was the first day that it got above 70 degrees, I just want to come on and give thanks. I am thankful for the weather yesterday and i will not take such days for granted. I ran and walked in the woods. Also drove around with the windows rolled down. I am very thankful.
