Last Hurrah at Port Townsend

It’s a bittersweet moment when you realize all good things must come to an end, especially those sun-soaked, adventure-filled vacations that leave us yearning for just one more day. Society often frowns upon what they call ‘laziness,’ but is it really laziness to immerse oneself in the sheer joy of living? As we pack our bags and prepare to bid farewell to our temporary paradise, I can’t help but reminisce about our latest escapade.

Our journey was unconventional yet exhilarating – we fat biked along the beach, from Fort Worden to Doc’s Marina Grill in Port Townsend. This wasn’t just a ride; it was a voyage of discovery, with the salty sea air as our companion. At Doc’s, we indulged in a feast for the senses – White Russians and a smorgasbord of seafood. The flavors still linger in my memory.

In the heart of town, we were greeted by totem poles and marine artifacts that whispered stories of the past. Each piece seemed to hold a secret, a tale waiting to be told. Our biggest stop was the Quimper Mercantile Company. Here, we embraced the PNW spirit with a warm, stylish shirt and waterproof clogs for Mo – essentials in this rain-kissed land.

The town’s character was as intriguing as its merchandise. We explored pirate shops, delved into underground stores, and were captivated by a sexy, slightly spooky fountain that seemed to embody the town’s quirky charm.

As night fell, we ventured onto North Beach, where the unexpected discovery of a sewage outpour clashed with the majestic tides. Yet, the sea lions didn’t seem to mind, and neither did we, as their playful antics kept us entertained.

Our last stop was at the Batch Brothers, where the perfect blend of hot sauce, burgers, and fish and chips provided a fitting end to a day filled with surprises.

Now, as we head home, there’s a sense of melancholy. But in our hearts, we carry the joy, the adventure, and the unforgettable memories of Port Townsend. It’s not goodbye; it’s see you later.
