Last Ride Before Winter

A Lake Como MTB Adventure

As the leaves turn and the days shorten, there’s a sense of urgency in the air. It’s that time of year again for a ‘last ditch’ mountain biking weekend, and what better place to embrace the fall colors than at Lake Como’s MTB trails?

Imagine pedaling around the lake, each turn offering a new perspective of autumn’s palette. The lake, calm and reflective, mirrors the fiery hues of the surrounding trees, creating a double canvas of fall beauty. The trails are a symphony of crunching leaves under tires and the soft rustling of the trees swaying in the gentle, cool breeze.

But the adventure doesn’t end there. We venture into Little Rock Creek, where the trails become more challenging, winding through dense forests and open meadows. The air here is laced with the earthy smell of damp soil and fallen leaves, and the vibrant colors create a patchwork quilt overhead.

In a spontaneous twist, we ditch our bikes for a while and take to the trails on foot. Hiking in this part of the world feels like stepping into a living painting. Every step reveals a new shade, a different light, and an unexplored angle of nature’s fall display.

This weekend isn’t just about the thrill of mountain biking; it’s a celebration of change, of nature’s cyclical beauty. It’s a reminder to savor these moments, these rides, because in a blink, the landscape will be cloaked in winter’s white.

As the sun sets on our final day, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, we’re filled with gratitude. Grateful for the trails, the bike beneath us, and the stunning fall spectacle that Lake Como and its surroundings bestowed upon us.
