In Hyalite there are two cabins, Maxi and Window Rock. This ride went by both of them. It was the best of rides and it was the worst of rides. Worst because it came to an end and best because of the different kinds of terrain one encounters. We had fire road, double track, mud, dust, rock, swamp, bushwhack, and sweet single track. The best riders in the area showed up for the showdown and was done moments before dark. 2 were in attendance. See you next week.

WNA #6 – Chestnut Ridge Run
Tonight’s ride was 2 riders deep. A pretty stacked field of the worlds best climbers. And the test was formidable. with over 2,500 feet of vertical it was tough. but the views and rewards many. Next week … South Cottonwood maybe. -
Day two on the East Fork
After settling into our cow poop infested campsite we had a great night including campfire, sausage, and all the good things that camping involves. I didn’t early morning hill climb to the top of the ridge. And then for the rest of the day Mo decided we were going to climb Loco Peak on our bikes. Isn’t she awesome?

Base Camp East Fork
I just woke up and took a look outside. Did our midnight landing yield us a good campsite. Not too bad except there was cow shit everywhere. We had planned to get up here and camp at the Forest Lake Campground just down the road about 6 miles. But when we got here it was too late and the campsites were kind of, well I must say, a little trailer park. Canvas wall tents and the such. Kind of creepy. But this was a good spot. And today we decided to just get on our bikes and explore. And we almost climbed Virginia peak. All good.

WNA #5 – Bear Lake Quagmire

Mo rides over the bridge The ride tonight was moved from Wednesday to Thursday in honor of the TNR Missoula. The ride starts at Bear Canyon trail head and follows the signs to Bear lake … well there is some turns here and there one must do. But then again you should join us if you want to know the route. It was real greasy as always. Mo crashed and almost got impaled by a stake. then the mosquitoes sucked our blood dry at the lake. Fun time were had by 2 riders.

Glacier Lake Day 3
On day 3 we awoke to better weather. It was a nice day for a extraction. I was nervous because I was not sure if my leg was injured enough to prohibit me from carrying a pack out. Turns out it was. -

Glacier Lake Day 2
Today we wanted to see how far up the drainage we could go. Every 500 feet of climbing it leveled out to another series of lakes. The first one was triangle lake. And then the next one was Sheep lake. On our way up to the next level I landed the wrong way and hurt my leg. At first I was scared because of the pain that was going through my body. I thought maybe I would need an extraction. But after a while we were able to make a crutch and I was able to get back down to camp. That was about it for day 2.

Glacier Lake Day 1
We parked in the parking lot and headed up the trail. We just Bought Elle and last night car camping out of it was great. So much room and versatility. But now we were starting our bike backpacking section of our vacation.
The climb was pretty long but eventually we finally made a way to Glacier like. That was the easy part though, because getting around the lake took the rest of the day. By the time we got to the outlet, or inlet I might say, it was evident that we needed to camp and get some rest. Looking back though I wish we could of made it up to triangle like. It was a beautiful spot were we decided to camp. I spent the afternoon lounging in my new hammock. What to do the next day was the question in our heads as we lay her head on the pillow and went to sleep.

Elle
Elle is our new car. And what did we do for it’s first date? Took it 4 wheeling in the Beartooths. It was all good … until the marmots ate the wiring. The marmots ate your baby!
