Last night’s adventure took me to Bear Mountain, Connecticut’s loftiest peak. While it’s no Everest, the challenge was real – especially with a twist of freezing rain and treacherous ice.
It was an evening hike, but what made it special wasn’t just the destination. It was my new gear – a Petzl Tikka headlamp. This isn’t just any headlamp. It’s LED-powered, a beacon in the darkness, turning night into day. Running on mere AAA batteries for about 100 hours, it’s a game-changer.
Navigating the ice-covered rocks at the summit was a test of skill and caution. The headlamp, a reliable companion, lit up the path, transforming the treacherous terrain into a playground of shadows and light.
I’m already plotting more nocturnal adventures. Perhaps I’ll get a Tikka for Marcy too. With these lights, we could ‘own the night,’ exploring trails and peaks under the starry sky. The thought itself is exhilarating.
Stay tuned for more tales, including my upcoming trip to Yuma. The journey continues, and with my trusty new gear, the possibilities are endless.
