Feeling Better

January 14, 2002, marked a day of refreshing beginnings and everyday adventures. Recovering from the flu, there’s a sense of rejuvenation in the air. The irony wasn’t lost on me when my new computer, a source of newfound fun, decided to crash right as I was singing its praises.

My health was getting better, but I was still cautious, waiting for my shoulder to heal before diving back into my workout routine. In the meantime, connecting with family became a joyful escape. Playing online checkers with mom and dad turned out to be more than just a game. Despite losing, it was a moment of simple, heartwarming connection.

Looking ahead, there were plans brewing. A movie outing with work buddies was on the cards, bringing a sense of normalcy and anticipation. And then, there was “Black Hawk Down,” a movie I was particularly keen to see, given its connection to my work at Sikorsky, where we build the Black Hawk.

In the realm of virtual sports, NHL 2002 was proving to be a triumphant escapade. Heading into the playoffs unbeaten, I contemplated ramping up the challenge by upgrading to a harder level. It’s these small victories and challenges that add an extra layer of excitement to daily life.

On a different note, my friend Suzy was in need of a car. It’s times like these when community and connections come into play, and I hoped someone out there might have a lead on an affordable option for her.

As for my other friends and family, life was bustling. My sister, buried in the joys and chaos of parenting, had her hands full. In the midst of all this, I extended an invitation to friends and family to connect online, hoping to keep the threads of communication and camaraderie alive.

This day, with its mix of recovery, technology woes, plans, and personal connections, encapsulated the ebb and flow of life. It was a reminder that every day holds a new story, a new challenge, and a new opportunity to connect and grow.
