The RMVQ

2004_09_25_rtls_wldrns_a_45LENGTH: 153-154 156 miles
CLIMBING: 26,984 34,204 feet
START: noon 10AM 8 AM (proposed)
FINISH: noon 10AM next day
HISTORY/RESULTS: 2008 2009 2010

The name of this quest used to be called Bill's Vision Quest and then Mule Terra Vision Quest. It is now called "Remember Marcy Vision Quest" because she died August 31st, 2008 and I feel the need to do something in the honor of a great animal, my friend who has climbed almost every high point in New England and New York.

My friend and adventure partner she had a certain athletic spirit to be celebrated. Even in Montana Marcy was first to the top and out in front on every epic journey. Her energy rides with all who ride the RMVQ.

2010 Is upon us. Visit the 2010 page for the maps and info.

Bill finished just before 9am

Bill finished just before 9am today. Great ride and a beautiful morning to ride down from the beacon.

Some of Bill's tweets are not

Some of Bill's tweets are not coming through to this page. You can also follow him at: ahalwright Alden is reposting Bill's tweets. A group of us are meeting at the Rattlesnake parking lot to welcome Bill and Garland in at 6:30ish. Come up if you can.

A friend who wishes to remain

A friend who wishes to remain anonymous has some opinions about this so I am posting it. I am amazed that no one else has an opinion on this. Anonymous friend says, "... early sept maybe? ... not sure for me about late aug".

August 15th!!!

August 15th!!!

That is the most viable date

That is the most viable date I can see this summer. But I am not feeling the enthusiasm for it ...

August 15th, is three weeks after the worlds, two weeks after Butte 100, and three weeks before 8 Hours of Labor. I think that is too close. I don't think I could do it and organize it in between all that action. I thought just making it to the Butte 100 would be an achievement but to turn around after back to back ultra distance races and do another would be too much for me.

It might be too early to tell, who knows, I might not make some of these races and will be chomping at the bit. If the economy doesn't pick up it will be wide open.

I really like to have everyone be happy and I really would like to find a better date, but this one is right in the middle of things. I just don't see it.

Hey Bill - are you planning

Hey Bill - are you planning to hold RMVQ on the same weekend this year? If so, I won't volunteer to help Warren with his homestake 'cross race on Sept 26th.

Rich, the "Stone Temple 8" is

Rich, the "Stone Temple 8" is on 9/26 so I was thinking of moving it to Oct 3 and 4. It would be more dark and colder. Maybe we can find a weekend before that doesn't mess with another ultra distance race. What are your thoughts?
