University Mountain Ridge

In front of me as I peer off toward Lolo Peak is a valley full of golden sun shine while I sit here under a tree braving a cloud, wind, and slightly chilly afternoon. Marcy and I just spent the last half hour hiking up to my favorite secluded spot in Missoula. Out West there looks to be a snow storm over the Nine Mile Valley. The snow is sparse up here and the trail up was nearly dry and just a pleasurable peak into what it is like hiking in the summer. If it were not for the frigged wind and these pesky shooting pains running down my leg I could be in heaven. Instead I am enjoying a great evening stroll with my dog. My thumbs are freezing up so I had better get back down the trail to headed seats.

Wow, what I would not give for this kind of conditions.  We have not seen the ground since a week before Thanksgiving.  Snowing right now outside.  Snow yesterday, snow today, snow tomorrow, there is really no room for improvement.

Reading these last two past posts I am shocked at the true diversity of Montana weather. 2006 Summer like conditions and last year winter. This year RAIN, RAIN, on top of heavy snow. It is unsafe to be anywhere due to avalanche danger and roofs caving in. I cant wait until next year to see what is next.
