I am sitting here watching the closing ceremonies to the Olympics. Did anyone see those flying people … how cool was that? Almost recovered now after my power smoothie (top secret) I am getting ready for bed and sewing up lose ends for the workweek to begin. I just got off a 3-hour ride up the Blackfoot River about 25 miles to Potomac. I rode well for my first 50 miler of the year. The ride seems flat but a total climb of 1,300 feet (all pretty gradual) says otherwise.
I rode a pretty comfy pace at around 150 beats per min the entire way with a couple short hills to blow out the pipes. Today was very nice and I do believe that it may have gotten to the upper 40s. The only big pain in the ass was the wet road due to melting snow. I have to say that there is a shit load of snow up yonder.
I took my MP3 player and some of the music had me singing along and dancing along. Well as well as someone bicycling can dance while riding. One of my favorites was some Doors tunes as I snaked my way back to Bonner along the Blackfoot river. It was kind of spiritual.
It will be a couple months before I can enjoy dry roads and basking in the sun but today was as good as a winter bike ride could get. So as the flame goes out and I put together a bowl of raise bran, goodnight sleep tight.
