I arrived at the UofM campus parking lot near the 'M' trail about 15 minutes before the Missoula Thursday Night Mountain Bike Group started to gather for tonight's install of adventure, friendship (as you can see in photo #5), and hiking. You can tell it is almost bike season because almost everyone had biked to the hike. Its only a matter of time.
I started my interval workout in hopes of running into the group near the end of my efforts. It worked out perfectly as I finished number three on top of Sentinel I headed immediately down the ridge (the old way) and met up with the trail about 900 feet below. I could year the group talking so my plan was working out perfectly
I was dreaming I was in an adventure race where one of the obstacles was to perfectly time all events so that I didn't see anyone until the end of the last interval. So I did number four and sure enough I reached the top and the end of my workout at the same time they did.
So the rest of the night I got to participate in the TNR. My workouts went great as I was packing the usual Carbo Rocket to keep my happiness level high and tempo high. I have also been carrying some Hammer Gel for some added calories when I do heavy efforts.
We hiked down the south side of the saddle to the Kim Williams trail home. It was long and icy but with my screwed shoes very fun. Some group members tried the "Butt Luge" (LOL NOTE: Spell checker just tried to change this last bit of text to but lube, NOT) and it looked like it worked well until they encountered a rock. Ouch!
We then proceeded to go cross town cyclo crossing ending up at some friends for big hot bowls of "friendship soup" and opium bread. Ahh, the typical Thursday night adventure. Now why would anyone want to live in Missoula?
Today I wanted to be a good boy nutritionally speaking because this time of year I must get to my gazelle figure so that I can climb millions of feet in the Butte 100 without dying. Anyhow
