Lost Without a Race

2008_04_06_bike_project_1Hello from a disappointing coffee shop where there is no scones and no wireless (stealing from a electronics store nearby). I have no money so the City Brew with it's yummy scones and free wireless is out in favor of being treated by a friend to a cup of coffee at a generic corp bean shop. But wait, it gets more disappointing.

The race in Polson today was canceled today due to a blizzard. I had drove all the way up there this morning. I should have read my email before I went up there. So now I sit here blogging with my PDA and enduring snotty coffee wait staff. It seem everyone is ready to kill each other. I just talked to a lady in line and their tennis match was being canceled. This sucks.

So I came back home and ate everything in reach. Then I fell asleep .... and now here I am trying to create something from artificial sunshine (coffee).

I better brave the blizzard outside to go do something ... something to salvage the weekend. I think I will give up racing just so I can be more fixable  when life starts to SUCK!

Last night I rode 55 miles in just under 3 hours. I don't think I have been sleeping well because of something has gone wrong with my training. It all started two weeks ago on Saturday, the day where there was supposed to be a race out at Clinton MT.

I rode my bike out to the course but found that the race was canceled. I was disappointed but happy that I did not have to race in the brutal conditions. It was very windy, snowing, and cold.

I had struggled just to get out to Clinton and I rested and tried to recover out of the wind in the western under-pass on the course. I thought to myself how feeble I felt. This was the first time I felt weak all year and thought to myself that I may have prepared for this season too early. Since this time I have been sick. I brushed off the thoughts and headed into the wind to ride home.

The next day I continued my denial and I headed to Plains MT for a mountain pass ride. Just as the day before, the ride turned sour and I found myself once again struggling against a blizzard. I had been hypothermic and struggling before but recovered soon in the following days. But since this two day struggle against the cold bitter winter like conditions I have been having trouble sleeping with tingling legs and a headache.

Could it be over training? I am going to stay on the path to denial and say no. I have also been having night sweats which could mean that my staff infection is back. But there has been other events that makes my quest for answers more confusing.

I had reached my weight goals for the season since that cold wintry weekend on the road. With that came a lower body fat situation as well. Have I gone too far? For the last two weeks I have rested and ate more to try and rectify my declining health. Bit obviously since it is 4:51 a.m. and I am still writing this, maybe there is still something wrong.  I know there is because the ride I did last night should of not put me in such a condition to have achy legs and a headache keeping me awake. O have not slept well in two weeks.

Then there is my diet. Because of my financial situation (broke), I have turned to cheaper foods like hamburger. I used to eat meatless products. Could my old thoughts of meat making me slow be coming to fruition. It is ironic the I start eating red meat to cover a nutritional base has maybe backfired. That brings me to another change that has happened recently (also due to being broke).

I have stopped getting costly supplements like Hammer Nutrition's Recoverite. Instead I have been trying to make my own and trying other power bars and concoctions.

So in conclusion there is no conclusion, only speculation. One thing is for certain, it is 5:03 a.m., my legs tingle, and I can not sleep. To top it off I feel hungry so I think I'll go make me some oatmeal.
