State Cyclocross Champs

Yesterday was the 2007 Montana State Cyclocross Championship where I raced in the mens A category. My friend Ronnie took some photos and video and I made it into a little movie. The movie to the right is a small version and you can see a large version as well as download it from Google Video. If you have dial-up (hi mom), just let me know and I'll send a CD.

The conditions were great and the race became a battle between John Curry and Frank Gonzalez. I floated behind them a couple paces until a couple riders (Alex and Doug) caught up and started using my wheel.

I slowed a pace to see if I could get help bridging up but no one took the lead and really powered ahead. Alex passed a couple times but did not make any power moves. Once I realized this I took off on my own and tried to bridge the now big gap.

I did come within 200 feet of the leaders but ran into the barriers and had to stop and put my chain back on my bike. In the end the rode to a final showdown where Frank took the title. I came in 3rd completely exhilarated at my effort. I had a good day!

Gotta love low expectations from the press! Nice race Bill! Nice race. Get ya a beer for that one when I get back. Sounds like Snowbowl will soon be in business? Getting some snow are we? SWEET! Peace from the mother-in-law's in Ohio! ~ MT-Rogue

Thanks Rogue ... thanks for the support. I don't think beer sounds good right now but you will have to hear the story why first. Right Ronnie! On the snow front we have a foot on the floor in the Root and almost that much here in Missoula. We are getting HAMMERED! Emergency travel only so I rode my bike to work!
